Ministry Within Trinity

There are a number of opportunities for involvement and service within the Trinity Church community. Through participation in these various ministries, friendships are formed, nurtured and strengthened. More than mere volunteerism, we understand that each baptized Christian has a responsibility to the spiritual community of which she or he is a part. To invest time and talent within the life of the congregation is not, however, an end in itself; rather this investment forms us in ways of living out our Christian faith in the rest of our lives - our homes, schools, places of employment and other communities of which we are a part.

Acolytes

Acolytes assist during liturgy by lighting and carrying candles, carrying the processional cross and the Gospel Book, and helping clergy prepare the altar for the Holy Communion. Acolytes may be young (usually at least eight years old) or adults. Acolyte training is provided at least twice during the year.

Altar Guild

Members of the Altar Guild prepare the altar for the celebrations of the Holy Communion with services such as cleaning and polishing the chalices (cups) and patens (saucers) used at Communion, making sure these items are in good repair, cleaning and repair of linens used at every liturgy, care of vestments worn by the clergy, etc.

Buildings and Grounds Committee

The Buildings and Grounds committee is responsible for oversight of the maintenance of Trinity's properties and the grounds surrounding them, as well as the parking lot and the grounds surrounding it and the church. More information.

Caregivers

Trinity Caregivers make and deliver meals, make phone calls, run errands, visit, send cards, and provide transportation as needed by parish members. This ministry is assisted by the other parishioners who prepare meals that are stored in the freezer for future use. Members are called to service on a rotating basis so that the same individuals are not constantly "on duty".

Finance Committee

Each fall, the Finance Committee drafts a budget for the following year. This is presented to the Vestry for consideration, fine- tuning and acceptance. Throughout the year the committee meets to review the status of the current budget and to secure information for the budget for the following year. The committee is chaired is by parish treasurer.

Garden Guild

Members of the garden guild plant, plan, and tend to the gardens on the grounds. The members of this guild are passionate about gardening. The guild gathers periodically to socialize and to plan the next gardening effort!

Lay Eucharistic Ministers

Members of the congregation have an opportunity to receive training to assist clergy in the distribution of the Holy Communion. Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) come in two varieties. The most visible group of LEMs are those individuals who assist the clergy at the regular Sunday liturgies. These LEMs are commonly identified as "chalice bearers." Another type of Lay Eucharistic Ministers receive more specific training and are licensed to take the Eucharist to parishioners who are hospitalized, homebound or for some other reason unable to attend worship at a regular liturgy.

Lectors

Lectors proclaim of the Word of God to the community gathered as they read the lessons appointed for each week's liturgy. Lectors also serve as the leaders of the Prayers of the People and occasionally are called upon to lead seasonal weekday services. Training for lectors is provided on a periodic basis throughout the year.

Music Ministry

All are welcome to join choir, handbells or provide other musical talent. Come learn a new skill or practice an old one. No experience necessary, just enthusiasm and energy for this ministry.

Outreach

Through our Outreach Committee and Vestry as well as the work and generosity of countless members of this parish, Trinity works to spread the message of Christ’s love through outreach to the community and the world beyond our walls. Opportunities abound to volunteer and to fundraise for the various groups and special efforts we support. See the Beyond our Walls page for more information on some of these various ministries, and share your own ideas.

Trinity Foundation

The Trinity Foundation manages the long-term assets of Trinity Church and provides a secure, perpetual source of revenue for the church and its outreach programs.

Ushers

Ushers assist at liturgies by distributing worship bulletins, collecting the offering and facilitating the flow of the congregation to and from the altar rail for Communion. Their primary task is to provide as smooth a service as possible to allow parish members and visitors to focus their attention on worship with minimal distraction along the way. These Trinity members also provide the ministry of hospitality to visitors/newcomers attending Trinity Church, welcoming people to the liturgy each Sunday, assisting visitors in finding their way around the building and helping to create a welcoming atmosphere for all who enter Trinity's doors. Ushers also assist in the upkeep of the worship space by providing a "post-liturgy clean-up" so that prayer books and hymnals are returned to pew racks; stray bulletins are collected and recycled, etc. Contact the church office or see an usher if you are interested in helping with this vital ministry.

Vestry

Members of the vestry are nominated and elected to help lead the administrative and fiscal management of the parish.
